As a self-taught photographer, Michael Lange photographed for over three decades for magazines (as Stern /Geo /Art /Time /Fortune among others). Mid-1990s, his interest shifted towards personal projects, and since 2009, the focus has been entirely on independent works.
In the last decade he gained recognition for his contemplative and meditative explorations of landscapes.
“My photographs convey a yearning for silence, pacification, depth and beauty, as well as the desire to lose oneself.”
Without giving up on the respective motif, Lange transforms landscapes and details in his unique photographic language until they align with his inner images and emotions.
For Lange, the pivotal juncture of an image resides in the transformation and transience of elements, when the ordinary metamorphoses into unexpected depth and picturesque beauty.
